Pittsburgh Chess Conference
June 1st and 2nd
The 2nd Annual Pittsburgh Chess Conference, founded and hosted by the Queen's Gambit Chess Institute, is a two day-event celebrating chess in the city of Pittsburgh, and the impact it is making socially, economically, and politically. The Conference includes a scholastic chess tournament, presentations by students who recently completed community-based projects, and an award ceremony. Community projects connect youth with local government officials and other individuals and organizations leading the city to impact their area using the strategy of chess. Annual awards are presented to community members and organizations that support chess initiatives in Pittsburgh.
Chess week in pittsburgh and Allegheny County
October 1st - 8th
In 2017, former District 8 Councilmember Daniel Gilman and his team created a proclamation in honor of chess. October 1st – 8th was officially named Chess Week in the City of Pittsburgh! The Queen’s Gambit Chess Institute has spearheaded chess week and has continued to led many events to celebrate it.
